It’s time to clear the clutter and prepare for the new year. The City of Canterbury Bankstown is urging residents to skip the mad end-of-year Clean-Up rush and book their Bulky Waste collection early.
Residents who live in a house, townhouse or building with fewer than 5 units, are entitled to two free Clean-Ups per calendar year.
With Clean-Up spaces already filling, anyone planning on spring cleaning to bring in the new year should book in urgently.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said booking early can also help ease end-of-year anxieties.
“Each year, we see residents miss out on their free Bulky Waste Clean-Ups because they’ve left it too late to book,” Mayor El-Hayek said.
“We all know how stressful the holiday period can be.
“Booking early can help you prepare your calendar whilst also avoiding disappointment.”
To ease the pressure of taking bulky waste to a tip, Council offers residents Bulky Waste Clean-Ups to help remove heavy waste too big for household bins.
Council recommends residents keep smaller items out of their Clean-Up to avoid collection issues and ensure a smooth and tidy rubbish removal.
Anyone wanting to use their final Clean-Up for the year needs to book in before December 15 to secure a spot and avoid losing their bookings.
Each Clean-Up can be up to three cubic metres in volume or combined for one larger Clean-Up of six cubic metres.
Residents should avoid placing rubbish out without a booking as it could land them hefty fines of up to $4,000.
