The 85-year-old Israeli hostage Yocheved Lifshitz, who was released by Hamas’ armed wing Al Qassam Brigades, said in statements following her release that Hamas fighters treated her and other hostages well and provided medical followup and food to them.
“A doctor came to us every few days to follow up on our condition, and he was keen to provide us with medicines,” she said.
Lifshitz added in her speech at a press conference that Hamas fighters treated her with friendliness and respect, adding: “There were about 25 prisoners in one hall, and they allocated a paramedic and appropriate medications for us.”
“I extended my hand to the Al Qassam fighter upon my release because they treated me kindly. They told us ‘We believe in the Qur’an and we will not harm you,’” she continued.
“We ate the same food that the Hamas fighters ate,” she added.
Hamas released two elderly Israeli women from captivity in the Gaza Strip on Monday.
The two hostages arrived at the Rafah land crossing, as a result of intense Egyptian efforts.
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation also reported that an Israeli team was on its way to receive the two hostages released by Hamas.
Palestinian factions announced on Monday the release of two detainees on humanitarian grounds that the Israeli army had previously refused to receive, through Egyptian and Qatari mediation.
