On 18 January 2023 is the 46th memorial of the Granville Train Disaster.
A train from departed Parramatta then derailed, bringing Granville bridge on top of it. 84 lives were lost and over 210 injured .
We will never forget that day. Many of those who survived and their rescuers were deeply traumatised. Many locals rushed to assist the rescue efforts.
The Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Lord Mayor Lisa and Lord Mayor Donna Davis and Cumberland and Parramatta Councillors, Members of Parliament, community members, and OZ ARAB Media representative Elie Kaltoum Rahme attended today’s memorial service to commemorate the worst rail accident in Australian history and paid their respects to those who lost their lives, their families and those who risked their lives to save others
