The President of South Sudan recently attended Easter Sunday mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, where he joined thousands of people in solemn celebrations of the Easter festival season. In his Easter message to the nation, the President reflected on the significance of the forty-day period of Lent, during which Christians around the world commemorate Jesus’ walk in the wilderness and his suffering on the cross, which ultimately led to his triumph over evil and death.

The President’s message also emphasized the importance of remembering Jesus’ passion for humanity and his resurrection, which affirm the promise of eternal life for all. He acknowledged that Christ’s acceptance of his painful death on the cross serves as a reminder that our salvation is rooted in love.

While the President has been traditionally taught and abides by Catholic Church regulations, some citizens have taken advantage of his presence in church as an opportunity to see the head of state in person.
