Local children can take their first steps in acting next month with a special theatre skills workshop running as part of City of Parramatta’s Autumn School Holiday Program.

Led by the team at Monkey Baa Theatre Company, PHIVE’s drop-off two-day Theatre Skills Workshop happening on 28 and 29 April allows kids aged 7 to 12 to explore acting, improvisation and theatre skills while parents enjoy their day, worry-free.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said this is one of many events Parramatta has on offer to give parents and carers a helping hand these holidays.

“This event gives parents the ultimate flexibility – you can drop off your child for an entire day of fun, giving them a fantastic opportunity to dive into the world of theatre,” Cr Zaiter said.

“We’re excited to offer such a unique program for kids to engage in a fun, hands-on educational experience. It’s a win-win for kids and their parents.

“This program is a perfect example of the enriching experiences we’re proud to offer through our local arts and community initiatives in the City of Parramatta.”

PHIVE has a huge offering of events and activities to keep the kids entertained these school holidays, in addition to the drop-off two-day Theatre Skills Workshop, with more holiday fun across other locations in Parramatta this autumn.

  • PHIVE is opening its doors to kids from 14-29 April, with activities ranging from Tabletop Games, Kids Bingo Bonanza to Easter Fun.
  • Riverside Theatres brings two standout performances for families: You’re an Instrument from 16-17 April; a fun, interactive show for kids who love music and adventure and Mr Snotbottom; a hilarious gross-out show with slimy songs and plenty of silliness from 22-24 April.
  • Active Parramatta is running 39 classes and workshops from 14-24 April across Western Sydney, from Pickleball to Taekwondo.
  • Local Libraries are keeping young minds engaged from Taronga Zoo Animal Encounters to 3D printing and Kitchen Chemistry.
  • Wentworth Point Community Centre and Library is inviting young creators with fun workshops such as Code Camp, Beat Making and Music Production, and Porcelain Art.
