Residents and visitors can once again take a dip to cool off with the reopening of Lake Parramatta’s swimming area for the 2025/26 swim season.
From Saturday 25 October lifeguards will return to patrol the swimming area each weekend from 11am to 7pm to ensure a fun and safe environment.
Lifeguard patrols increase to seven days a week from Saturday 6 December until Wednesday 28 January 2026 and return to weekends only from Thursday 29 January 2026 until Sunday 29 March 2026.
Lifeguards will return to seven days a week, 11am-6pm, for the April School Holidays, and the season will end on Sunday 26 April 2026.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said it’s the perfect time to enjoy one of the best spots for a swim in western Sydney.
“Lake Parramatta has fast become the City’s natural iconic swimming spot since it reopened for swimming in 2015,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Lake Parramatta is a key part of our 2050 plan to create a continuous green corridor from the Lake to Sydney Olympic Park, reflecting our bold vision to become an unrivalled River City.
“Following the multi-million-dollar safety and accessibility upgrades completed last year, hundreds of new faces have made a swim at the Lake a regular part of their week over the Summer – taking advantage of this little oasis in the middle of North Parramatta.”
It’s been one year since the $1.4 million transformation of the swimming area was unveiled containing a new lifeguard platform, gently sloping sandy beach, shade and an outdoor shower.
“The new signage, installation of an onsite emergency response beacon and a water safety education programme have all made for an enhanced experience at Lake Parramatta.” Cr Zaiter said.
“It’s a great time to join your friends and family for a swim or a walk and I want to remind everyone to only swim in the designated swimming area when supervised by lifeguards while visiting Lake Parramatta.”
