Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has landed in Sydney for his debut Australian tour. His first stop was the Rusty Rabbit cafe in Darlinghurst, famous for its ricotta pancakes and association with the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby team. The visit is particularly notable given Ocasio’s mixed feelings about rabbits, stemming from a childhood experience of wearing a bunny costume for Easter, as he recounted in a 2020 interview with Jimmy Fallon.
According to The Guardian, a specially curated itinerary highlights various rabbit-themed attractions for the artist during his stay in the city. The White Rabbit gallery in Chippendale, showcasing a significant collection of contemporary Chinese art, is recommended as a starting point. The current exhibition, titled The Hooligans, resonates with Ocasio’s outspoken nature, as he stated during his Saturday Night Live monologue in 2023: “I do whatever I want.”
For a unique culinary experience, Bad Bunny can visit Cafe Paci in Newtown, where he can indulge in a carrot sorbet dessert. Additionally, Colombo Social in Enmore offers Sri Lankan hoppers, a light crepe dish perfect for a snack before a hearty pub meal at the Warren View hotel, a popular spot for Rabbitohs fans.
As the day winds down, Ocasio can enjoy drinks at Burrow Bar in Sydney’s CBD, known for its classic cocktails and vibrant atmosphere. Although he may wish to attend a South Sydney Rabbitohs game at Accor Stadium, the next match is scheduled for March 8 in Brisbane, leaving him to cheer from afar during his Sydney visit.
