Arabic version: زيارة روبيو المرتقبة إلى إسرائيل تتزامن مع استياء ترامب من إيران

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to visit Israel next week, with his trip scheduled for March 2 to 3. The visit comes as President Donald Trump expresses dissatisfaction with ongoing negotiations involving Iran. According to Al Jazeera, Rubio’s discussions will focus on U.S. relations with Iran and Lebanon, alongside implementing Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza.

This marks Rubio’s fifth official trip to Israel since taking office, highlighting the importance of the U.S.-Israel alliance. The timing of this visit is particularly sensitive, as indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran are ongoing, with a new round scheduled to occur in Austria on the same day Rubio arrives in Israel.

Trump publicly voiced his frustration regarding the pace of negotiations, stating he is “not happy” with the fact that they’re not willing to give the U.S. what it has to have. He emphasized his administration’s readiness to consider military options if necessary, expressing a desire for a more stringent agreement than what is currently being discussed.

Concerns about military escalation in the region have been exacerbated by recent statements from Trump and actions by U.S. officials. The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has authorized staff to leave due to safety risks, citing “terrorism and civil unrest” as significant concerns. This backdrop of heightened tension underscores the stakes of Rubio’s diplomatic mission in Israel.
