Arabic version: غارة جوية إسرائيلية على فندق في بيروت تودي بحياة أربعة أشخاص
An Israeli airstrike on a hotel in the centre of Beirut has resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, according to Al Jazeera. The attack, which occurred on March 4, specifically targeted commanders from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as Israel intensifies its military actions against Iranian interests in the region.
Health officials in Lebanon reported that the air raid hit a hotel room in Raouche, a popular area known for its tourist attractions. In addition to the fatalities, at least ten others sustained injuries. The hotel had been accommodating displaced individuals fleeing the ongoing conflict in southern Lebanon and its suburbs.
The Israeli military stated that the strike was aimed at key IRGC commanders involved in planning attacks against Israel. However, the military did not disclose the names of those targeted. Israel has conducted a series of airstrikes throughout Lebanon this week, with reports indicating at least 12 casualties from separate strikes in southern Lebanon.
This recent escalation follows a series of events that began on February 28, when U.S.-Israeli strikes resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, Lebanon has been embroiled in conflict, particularly after Hezbollah attacked Israel in retaliation. The situation remains volatile, with air raid sirens reported in northern Israel and further clashes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces near the border.
