The political supervisor for Khartoum State from the Sudanese Democratic Federal Party, and the head of the Al-Daqi Forum for Sudanese-Egyptian relations, Abdul Wahab Musa Abu Dureira, hosted an iftar gathering on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. This event was followed by a salon meeting that brought together a distinguished group of political, diplomatic, and media figures from both Sudan and Egypt. The scene vividly illustrated the deep historical and emotional connections between the peoples of the Nile Valley. It reinforced the notion that human and intellectual communication is the cornerstone for preserving a shared destiny and enhancing mutual trust.

Several prominent political leaders participated in the gathering, including Dr. Salah Halima, the Vice President of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Relations, former Sudanese Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Youssef, as well as prominent figures such as Ms. Amani Al-Tawil, Ms. Asma Al-Husseini, international relations journalist Dr. Nabil Najm, Dr. Hassan Turk, head of the Egyptian Democratic Federal Party, and Dr. Hanna. Leaders from the Sudanese Democratic Federal Party also played an active role, showcasing the party’s commitment to strengthening its national and regional role in supporting Sudanese-Egyptian relations and articulating its strategic vision in addressing current challenges.

Discussions revolved around the situation of Sudanese nationals in Egypt, who are navigating a reality filled with both challenges and opportunities. The relationship between Egypt and Sudan transcends mere geographical proximity; it is rooted in a long history, shared bloodlines, and a single Nile that nourishes both banks. However, the recent conflict has cast a heavy shadow, unveiling difficulties that threaten this rich heritage. Despite these challenges, which have burdened some Sudanese and weakened stability prospects, they remain temporary hurdles that can be overcome through cooperation and solidarity. Relying on the historical and strategic alliances connecting Egypt with Sudanese political, civil, professional, and social forces can help restore the spirit of brotherhood to its natural course, clearing away the fog and uncertainty that have clouded the vision.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was emphasized that Sudan looks forward to a broader and deeper role for Egypt. This role should extend beyond mere hospitality to encompass efforts aimed at ending the war, launching reconstruction initiatives, and building economic integration for the benefit of both nations’ peoples. It is essential for the Nile Valley to once again shine as a beacon of history and a foundation for the future, fostering relationships marked by brotherhood and mutual respect. Instead of lamenting lost opportunities, there is a need to create new chances that restore the valley’s natural position and affirm that a shared destiny is stronger than all challenges and more enduring than any storm.
