Steven Lyons, a prominent figure in Scotland’s gangland, is set to be deported from Bali to Spain following his arrest at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. According to BBC News, Lyons was taken into custody shortly after arriving from Singapore on Saturday. His arrest coincided with that of his wife, Amanda Lyons, in Dubai, as both are wanted for offences allegedly committed in Spain.

Bali officials confirmed that Lyons, who was the subject of an Interpol alert, would be deported. He was seen emerging from police headquarters in Denpasar, handcuffed and wearing orange overalls and a black face mask. Bali police chief Daniel Adityajaya stated that the 45-year-old is suspected of leading a large-scale transnational criminal organisation involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.

Lyons’ criminal activities reportedly span several countries, including Spain, Scotland, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Turkey. Police in Bali are also searching for two associates who arrived with him but managed to evade capture. One of these associates, Stephen Larwood, was previously arrested alongside Lyons in Dubai last September.

A recent joint operation by Scottish and Spanish authorities targeted alleged members of the Lyons organisation, resulting in multiple raids across locations in Scotland and Spain. The operation led to eight arrests in Scotland and five in Spain, with charges including drug offences and conspiracy.

Lyons, who has survived a shooting in Glasgow and has connections to the Dubai-based Kinahan crime group, has been a central figure in a long-standing feud with a rival gang. His criminal network has reportedly expanded significantly over the years, leveraging connections within international crime syndicates.
