Arabic version: عطلة نهاية أسبوع مأساوية تودي بحياة فتاة صغيرة وراكبين دراجتين ناريتين
A seven-year-old girl has died after an all-terrain vehicle rolled in a paddock at Yattalunga, while two motorcyclists lost their lives in a separate crash in the Adelaide Hills. Emergency services were called to a private property on Glenburnie Road just before 4:30 PM on Friday. The girl, a passenger in the buggy, was seriously hurt and transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries two days later. A woman and another child were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
In a separate incident on Saturday, two male motorcyclists collided on Gorge Road at Paracombe. The crash involved a Honda and a Suzuki motorcycle around 2:30 PM, resulting in the deaths of both riders, a 31-year-old from Nairne and a 47-year-old from Lockleys, at the scene. Their fatalities followed another tragic incident on Friday, where a 40-year-old motorcyclist died after hitting a traffic light at Ovingham.
The recent fatalities are part of a series of road tragedies in South Australia as the Easter long weekend approaches. Earlier in the week, a 39-year-old woman was killed in a bus accident during peak hour in Adelaide’s CBD, witnessed by many passers-by. Additionally, a collision between a truck and a ute at Nuriootpa resulted in serious injuries for three occupants of the ute, including a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl. The 47-year-old man driving the ute later died in the hospital.
Major Crash investigators are now handling both the ATV rollover and the motorcyclists’ collision, as the community mourns these tragic losses. According to ABC News, the series of accidents has raised significant concerns regarding road safety during holiday periods.
