Madonna surprised fans at Coachella by joining Sabrina Carpenter on stage during her headline set. The Queen of Pop performed a medley that included “Vogue,” “Like A Prayer,” and a song from her new album. This collaboration followed days of speculation regarding her attendance at the festival in California’s Colorado desert.
According to BBC News, Madonna confirmed earlier this week the release of “Confessions II,” a sequel to her 2005 album, “Confessions On A Dance Floor.” The performance began after Carpenter’s rendition of “Juno,” with Madonna emerging as the intro of “Vogue” played, delighting the crowd with matching blonde hair and lace corsets.
During her set, Madonna reflected on her past performances at Coachella, stating, “Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella – I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part I in America and that was such a thrill for me.” She expressed her joy at returning to the festival two decades later, describing it as a “full circle moment.”
The duo’s performance also featured a lighthearted moment as Madonna noted it was her first time performing with someone shorter than her, humorously thanking Carpenter for the experience. This surprise collaboration came during Carpenter’s second week headlining the festival, which is known for drawing more than 100,000 attendees daily, according to police from the city of Indio.
Coachella continues this weekend with Justin Bieber set to headline on Saturday and Colombian pop star Karol G on Sunday. The festival has been a staple at Indio’s Empire Polo Club since 2002, attracting music fans from around the globe.
