Billie Eilish has collaborated with renowned filmmaker James Cameron to create a new 3D concert film centered around her performances in Manchester. According to BBC News, the film premiered in London, where Eilish expressed her deep appreciation for her Manchester fans, stating they are “one of my favourite audiences ever… I fricking love Manchester”.
The project was inspired by a suggestion from Cameron’s wife, who is acquainted with Eilish’s mother through their shared environmental activism. Eilish shared that Cameron reached out to her via email with the idea of filming her concert in 3D, an opportunity she had never considered before. The filmmakers utilized advanced 3D technology, allowing for an intimate portrayal of Eilish’s performances, including dynamic moments where she energetically interacts with the stage.
At the film’s premiere, fans lined the streets of Leicester Square, eager to catch a glimpse of Eilish. Some fans, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed their joy at being able to see her. Cameron noted that the fans play a significant role in the film, revealing how Eilish has made them feel accepted and understood during challenging times.
Eilish and Cameron both acknowledged the unique experience of creating the film, with Eilish stating that working with Cameron opened her eyes to the film-making process. Cameron suggested that while 3D concert films might not become the norm, the project serves as a reminder of the importance of live music performances, especially in an era dominated by digital technology.
The film, titled ‘Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D)’, is set to be released on May 7, 2026, promising fans an immersive experience that captures the essence of her live shows and her connection with her audience.
