Arabic version: خدمات السكك الحديدية في جنوب إنجلترا تواجه اضطرابات كبيرة اليوم
Major disruption is expected on some rail services in southern England until the end of the day after an earlier radio fault, according to BBC News. The issue affected communications between trains and signallers, resulting in numerous cancellations and delays for South Western Railway, CrossCountry, Southern, Gatwick Express, London Overground, and Thameslink.
The fault was reported at 08:53 BST and was resolved by 11:00, but National Rail has warned that recovery may take longer. Passengers might still experience delays of up to 90 minutes or cancellations as services return to normal. London Overground services are no longer affected by the disruption.
South Western Railway indicated that significant disruptions would persist as they worked to restore normalcy. Passengers have been advised to check their travel plans and are permitted to use their tickets on alternative routes, including buses and the London Underground, at no additional cost.
Southern railway reported that its services to and from London Victoria were particularly impacted, alongside disruptions on the West Coastway route. As the day progressed, it was noted that journeys could take at least an additional 60 minutes, requiring passengers to change trains or use different operators.
Passengers expressed frustration over the disruptions, with some sharing their experiences of missed work and academic commitments. National Rail has provided guidance on compensation eligibility for those affected by delays or cancellations.
