New South Wales Police have released CCTV footage as part of their investigation into the suspicious death of an 18-year-old man in Temora last December. According to ABC News, the body of Rhyce Smith was discovered on December 7, 2025, with a gunshot wound to the head, prompting an extensive inquiry by local detectives and the state Homicide Squad.

Police were alerted to the scene on Ashelford Street, near the intersection of Golf Club Road, shortly before 6am, where Mr. Smith’s body was located approximately 200 metres from a drainpipe. A firearm was found nearby, leading investigators to classify the death as suspicious rather than self-inflicted.

Detective Inspector Brent Falkiner stated that the circumstances surrounding Mr. Smith’s death have raised concerns, and all avenues of inquiry have ruled out self-harm. He emphasized that the family is devastated and seeking answers regarding the loss of such a young life.

The released CCTV footage, recorded around 12:30am on December 7, shows Mr. Smith wearing black jeans and a black hoodie. Inspector Falkiner hopes the footage will help jog the memories of those who may have seen him in the hours leading up to his death. He urged anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers at 1800 333 000.
