A Year 7 student from St Aloysius College was seriously injured after becoming trapped under a train at North Melbourne Railway Station. According to ABC News, the incident occurred when the boy’s school bag became caught on the train’s mirror as it arrived at the platform.

The student fell onto the tracks just before 4 PM while standing with friends near platform 6. Emergency services described the scene as “traumatic,” with the boy suffering serious leg injuries. He was trapped for up to an hour before firefighters managed to jack the train off him.

The school principal, Mary Farah, commended the students for their calm and responsible actions. The college’s wellbeing team is offering counseling to students and staff affected by the incident. The boy was transported to The Royal Children’s Hospital, where he is now reported to be in a serious but stable condition.
