A Canberra family has established a foundation dedicated to youth sports in memory of their daughter, Uqasha Imran, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident. The Uqasha Imran Foundation aims to provide financial and logistical support to help young people engage in sports, reflecting Imran’s passion for athletics and mentoring.

According to ABC News, Uqasha Imran, who was a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, suffered catastrophic injuries when a bus failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into her motorcycle in March 2025. The bus driver later pleaded guilty to negligent driving causing death. Her father, Imran Amjad, described her as a vibrant individual who positively impacted many young athletes in Canberra.

The foundation, launched this weekend, is not limited to martial arts but aims to assist youth in any sport. Amjad expressed pride in the support from the Canberra community, stating that they are ready to provide grants, sports equipment, and training sessions to ensure children do not miss out on athletic opportunities.

In addition to promoting youth sports, the family seeks to raise awareness about organ donation, a cause close to their hearts after fulfilling Uqasha’s wish to be an organ donor. Amjad highlighted the importance of having one’s intentions known regarding organ donation, as many Australians are supportive but not registered.

The Uqasha Imran Foundation has already assisted five students with their training and competition needs, and Amjad hopes to expand its reach beyond Canberra. He emphasized the foundation’s mission to honor his daughter’s legacy and encourage generosity in helping others, both through sports and organ donation.
