Arabic version: هجوم بطائرات مسيرة في منطقة موسكو يسفر عن مقتل ثلاثة أشخاص
According to BBC News,
A large-scale drone attack attributed to Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of three individuals in the Moscow region, according to local officials. The incident occurred overnight, with a woman killed in a house in Khimki, where another person was trapped under rubble. Additionally, a man and a woman lost their lives in the village of Pogorelki. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that 12 others were injured when drones struck an entrance to the city’s oil refinery.
Russian authorities reported that 556 drones were intercepted during the attack. Regional governor Andrei Vorobiev noted that air defense forces had been active since three o’clock in the morning, repelling the drone assault. He mentioned that several houses were damaged, and a private home in the village of Subbotino was on fire.
In response to the drone strikes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the attacks were an “entirely justified” reaction to recent deadly Russian assaults on Ukrainian cities, including a significant attack in Kyiv that killed 24 people earlier in the week. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s military operations are aimed at key Russian military assets and energy facilities, which he deems legitimate targets.
The situation in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine was also grave, with local officials reporting eight injuries due to Russian drone attacks and shelling. The strikes in this region have resulted in damage to numerous homes, further escalating the ongoing conflict. As tensions continue to rise, both sides remain engaged in a cycle of retaliatory attacks.
Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow’s busiest airport, reported drone wreckage on its premises but confirmed that no injuries occurred. Authorities assured that operations at the airport remained stable despite the incidents. The ongoing conflict, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has led to significant casualties and destruction on both sides.
