Arabic version: غارات جوية إسرائيلية في لبنان تودي بحياة خمسة أشخاص خلال هجوم بري

At least five people have been killed in Israeli air strikes targeting towns in southern Lebanon. The attacks occurred as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces had crossed the Litani River, expanding their ground offensive in the region.

According to Al Jazeera, the latest military operation started despite the ceasefire that began on April 17 and was extended for 45 days on May 17 following indirect talks mediated by the United States.

The Lebanese delegation, which includes six officers led by the army’s director of operations, Georges Rizkallah, is set to demand an end to the ongoing Israeli attacks during security talks at the Pentagon. Israeli Brigadier General Amichai Levin is representing Israel in these discussions.

Recent air strikes resulted in four fatalities in Abbasiyeh, near Tyre, with another person killed in Deir Qanoun al-Nahr. The United Nations reported that 15 children have been killed and 62 injured in Lebanon over the last week, prompting UNICEF to emphasize the need for the protection of children under international humanitarian law.

As the humanitarian situation worsens, aid organizations are concerned about the possibility of withdrawing from southern Lebanon due to relentless attacks. Approximately 40 hospitals in the region are already closed, and hundreds of thousands of Lebanese have been displaced since March 2, requiring urgent assistance.
