Arabic version: تعطيل خدمات القطارات في مطار هيثرو بسبب انفجار أنبوب مياه
Passengers traveling to and from Heathrow Airport faced significant delays on Saturday morning due to a burst water main that halted all train services for hours. According to BBC News, the disruption affected the Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth Line, which connects Hayes and Harlington to the airport, as well as the Piccadilly Line due to planned engineering works.
National Rail confirmed that all lines have since reopened, but they issued an apology for the “major disruption” caused by the incident. Heathrow Airport also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.
Frustrated passengers took to social media to share their experiences. South Devon MP Caroline Voaden described the scene at the airport as “absolute carnage,” highlighting the chaos with hundreds of people waiting for buses and many feeling lost. Other users echoed her sentiments, with one passenger labeling the situation as “unbearable” due to long queues and a lack of information.
Reports from travelers indicated that staff members were scarce, with some expressing concern over the absence of guidance for those navigating the terminal. Despite the chaos, tickets for the Heathrow Express were still being sold at the terminal, leading to further frustration among stranded passengers.
