Known primarily for his portrayal of Rupert Giles in the cult classic “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Head also had notable roles in shows such as “Ted Lasso,” “Merlin,” and “Little Britain.” According to BBC News, Head passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.
His daughters, Emily and Daisy, expressed their sorrow in a statement, saying, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father.” They acknowledged the profound impact he had on many lives and emphasized how much he loved his work. The family reflected on the privilege of being his daughters and noted that his legacy would continue to resonate with fans and colleagues alike.
Head’s career spanned several decades, beginning with his rise to fame in the UK during the 1980s as the face of Nescafe coffee advertisements. He later gained international recognition through his performances in various popular series, including a recurring role in “Little Britain” and as King Uther Pendragon in “Merlin.”
In addition to his television work, Head had a rich stage career, performing in productions like “The Rocky Horror Show” and musicals such as “Godspell” and “Chess.” His last credited appearance was in the second series of “Bridgerton” in 2022.
