George Russell has clinched pole position for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, overcoming recent challenges in his performance. According to BBC News, Russell edged out Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari by just 0.064 seconds, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli could manage only third place in the other Mercedes.

McLaren’s Lando Norris secured fourth place, followed by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar. Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc faced setbacks, crashing on his first lap in the final session and will start in tenth position. Oscar Piastri from McLaren qualified seventh, with Liam Lawson from Racing Bulls and Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg rounding out the top ten.

Russell expressed relief at returning to form after failing to score points in the last two races, stating, “The last few races haven’t been on our side but I came into the race with a clean slate and job done.” He acknowledged Hamilton’s strong performance, highlighting the competitiveness of the upcoming race.

Hamilton, who missed the first practice session to allow development driver Dino Beganovic to participate, noted the difficulty he faced in achieving pace during the weekend. Despite concerns about his speed, he managed to secure a front-row start for the first time since the 2024 British Grand Prix, setting the stage for an exciting race ahead.
