Arabic version: فرقة تمبر تراب تعود بألبوم جديد وجولة قادمة
The Temper Trap are back from hiatus with their fourth album, “Sungazer,” scheduled for release on 10 July. The Melbourne-based band, known for their breakout hit “Sweet Disposition,” is also gearing up for an international tour to promote the new music. According to The Guardian, this marks a significant moment for the band, which has undergone substantial changes since their debut album in 2009.
After a lengthy hiatus that began in 2018, the band members have reflected on their journey and the evolution of the music industry. Lead singer Dougy Mandagi expressed that the pressure to replicate the success of their earlier work became a burden. He noted that the creative process was challenging, with external expectations weighing heavily on their artistic direction. Mandagi emphasized the importance of creating music that feels authentic rather than chasing past successes.
“Sungazer” is described as more textured and optimistic than their previous records, with lyrics that delve into themes of faith and new fatherhood. The band has released a single from the album, “Giving Up Air,” which aims for a dancefloor vibe, showcasing their growth as artists. Dundas and Mandagi both acknowledge the challenges faced by musicians today, particularly in navigating the streaming landscape and the financial difficulties that many emerging artists encounter.
As they prepare for their tour, the band is also conscious of the personal sacrifices involved. With families to consider, both Mandagi and Dundas have expressed mixed feelings about being away from home for extended periods. Despite these challenges, the excitement of touring and sharing their new music with fans remains a driving force for the band as they embark on this new chapter.
