According to The Guardian,
The Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) has charged a third man over the alleged Adass Israel synagogue arson attack in December 2024. The 20-year-old man from Airport West has been charged with criminal damage by fire (Arson), conduct endangering life, and theft of a motor vehicle.
It will be alleged he is one of three individuals who broke into the Ripponlea synagogue and deliberately set the fire. Victoria Police acting assistant commissioner Paul O’Halloran emphasized the commitment to ensuring those responsible for such acts are brought to justice. He stated, “It doesn’t matter what role someone may play… police and our partner agencies will do everything we can to fully investigate and hold you to account for your actions.”
This incident occurred over 18 months ago, yet authorities remain focused on addressing community safety concerns. O’Halloran noted that such acts are designed to instill fear and distress, underscoring the importance of safety for individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.
In other news, a goldmine operator in regional New South Wales reported that all personnel have safely returned to the surface following a small earthquake. The incident prompted immediate safety measures, and no injuries were reported.
The day’s developments also included discussions surrounding the KPMG whistleblower controversy, with former CEO Andrew Yates admitting the firm mishandled the situation, leading to significant personal costs for the whistleblower.
