Three people have been killed in a shooting at a school in Tacloban city, the Philippines. According to ABC News, local police confirmed that three students were killed and seven others injured during the incident at San Jose National High School.

The shooting occurred about 9 AM local time when two students, aged 14 and 15, opened fire at the school. The suspects have been taken into custody, with police stating that one of the firearms used was registered to a policewoman in the region, who has also been detained.

Regional police chief Brigadier General Jason Capoy reported that the suspects, who were friends, claimed to have been bullied at the school. They reportedly entered two classrooms during the attack, and most victims were female students.

The Tacloban City Police Office condemned the shooting, emphasizing their swift response to secure the scene and assist the injured. An extensive investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances of the shooting and the motives of the suspects.

The Philippines’ Department of Education is collaborating with local authorities to ensure the safety of the school and provide emotional support to those affected. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his condolences and called for a thorough investigation while emphasizing the need for safety in public spaces, particularly schools.
