Arabic version: لبنان يلغي جوازات السفر غير البيومترية الصادرة منذ 2003
Lebanon’s General Security announced plans to phase out non-biometric passports that have been issued since 2003. This decision is part of an effort to modernize the country’s passport system and enhance security measures.
The transition aims to replace the outdated passports with biometric versions, which are designed to provide better protection against identity theft and fraud. The move is expected to streamline the passport issuance process and align Lebanon with international standards.
According to LBC, the phased elimination of the non-biometric passports will take place over the coming months. Authorities have urged citizens to ensure they have the updated biometric passports to avoid any complications during travel.
This initiative reflects Lebanon’s commitment to improving its administrative processes and enhancing the security of its citizens’ travel documents.
