Adelaide’s popular two-day music festival, Harvest Rock, will not take place in 2026, with organisers announcing a “fallow year” for the event. The promoter expressed disappointment in a social media statement, noting, “We know this will be disappointing news to many of you. But good things take time, and we’re already working on future plans.” According to ABC News, the festival has been a significant draw for tourism in South Australia since its launch in 2022.

Harvest Rock quickly gained popularity with its impressive line-ups featuring both international stars and local talent. Past headliners have included Jack White, Jamiroquai, Crowded House, and Beck, among others. The 2025 edition was deemed a major success, despite thunderstorms derailing the first day.

The South Australian Tourism Commission reported that over 30 percent of attendees for the last festival traveled from outside the state. This highlights the festival’s role in boosting local tourism. The decision to take a year off marks the second hiatus for Harvest Rock, following a similar pause in 2024.

Promoter Secret Sounds has faced challenges in recent years, including the cancellation of other major events. The statement regarding Harvest Rock did not specify reasons for the 2026 hiatus, but it acknowledged the ongoing support from the South Australian government. As the festival landscape continues to evolve, concerns remain about the profitability of music festivals in Australia, with many facing rising operational costs and shifting audience demographics.
