Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, may face misdemeanor charges following a hit-and-run car crash in Yountville, California. The incident, which occurred on Friday, resulted in significant damage to a parked vehicle, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.
According to The Guardian, Pelosi was driving a brown convertible when he struck the parked car and briefly stopped before leaving the scene. A witness alerted emergency services, and sheriff’s deputies located Pelosi approximately a quarter-mile away with damage to the front of his vehicle.
Pelosi reportedly acknowledged that he hit something but was uncertain about the specifics of the incident. Authorities confirmed he had no alcohol in his system at the time. Due to the lack of injuries, the sheriff’s office has recommended a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the scene.
A spokesperson for the Pelosis stated that Paul had personally apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and promised to take responsibility for the incident. Nancy Pelosi, who has been serving in the US House for 20 terms, will not be commenting further on this matter.
This incident follows a previous legal issue for Paul Pelosi, who pleaded guilty in 2022 to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence. He was sentenced to five days in jail and probation, although he served only two days due to good conduct.
The crash adds to a tumultuous period for the Pelosis, as Paul was also a victim of a violent attack at their home in San Francisco in 2022, where he was severely beaten with a hammer by an intruder.
