Arabic version: أصدر أمر توقيف بحق رجل على خلفية محاولة قتل في ينّورا
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 45-year-old Corum Ash in connection with the alleged attempted murder of a 74-year-old man in Yennora.
According to ABC News, NSW Police released an image of Mr Ash and described him as being of Caucasian appearance, 170–175 centimetres tall, of medium build, with black short hair, black eyes and unshaven. Police said he travels on public transport and visits the Carlingford and Fairfield areas and their surrounds, and warned the public not to approach him but to contact police.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning when the 74-year-old was found unconscious with a head injury on the side of the road near the intersection of Orchardleigh Street and Junction Road in Yennora. The man, described in the report as a local father-of-three, had left his house about 30 minutes earlier and was out on his usual early morning walk. A member of the public called Triple Zero (000), and police and ambulance quickly responded. Paramedics treated him at the scene and he was later taken to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in critical condition after surgery, with his family by his side.
Detective Acting Inspector Brenton Sommerville said police were treating the incident as an alleged assault. “This is a 74-year-old male, a vulnerable member of the community, in what appears to be a cowardly and callous attack,” he said.
An image of Corum Ash was released by NSW Police on Sunday evening, and an arrest warrant has been issued for the offence of attempted murder. The public has been urged not to approach Mr Ash and to contact police with any information.
