Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry has condemned a series of Iranian attacks that targeted multiple countries in the region, calling the actions a violation of international law and the principles of good neighbourliness.

According to Arab News, the United States struck Iran in response to an Iranian attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran then launched attacks that targeted Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Jordan.

The Saudi statement said the strikes contravened the United Nations Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and established rules of good neighbourliness, and warned that repeated attacks on commercial ships threaten the security and freedom of navigation. The ministry’s wording included a warning that such behaviour undermines regional stability and international law.

Qatar also condemned the Iranian attacks against its territory and its neighbours. The Qatari foreign ministry said it “condemns in the strongest possible terms the renewed attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran,” and described the barrages as a “dangerous escalation.”

Oman issued a formal protest to the Iranian ambassador following an attack on the country, state media reported, expressing “profound dismay” and underscoring “the imperative of adhering to the provisions of state sovereignty, good neighborliness, non-interference in internal affairs.” Pakistan’s foreign ministry said its top diplomat called for “de-escalation” and urged all sides to “show restraint” during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart.

Reports accompanying the coverage noted explosions were heard over Doha and that air-defence interceptions were observed above the Qatari capital, with AFP journalists reporting the incidents. Regional statements, formal protests and calls for restraint from multiple governments were recorded in the reporting on the events.
