A Liberal and Nationals Government will restore energy choice for Victorians, and this week launched a series of targeted advertising campaigns across multicultural media outlets opposing Premier Ben Carroll’s undemocratic gas ban.

Victorians from multicultural backgrounds particularly value the choice to cook with gas, and should not be deprived of this choice by a government decree.

Labor has flagged plans to ban consumer choice of hot water services and heating and almost certainly cooktops too, from March 2027. Victorians from multicultural communities have made clear they don’t want these Labor gas appliance bans.

This November, Victorians face a clear choice: Labor’s restrictive gas ban, or a Liberals and Nationals Government that will reverse the ban and allow households to choose their own energy source.

Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, David Davis, slammed Labor’s track record, stating that families and businesses are paying the price for years of bad policy.

“Labor’s gas ban will cost many families tens of thousands of dollars as the ban will prevent the replacement of existing gas appliances,” Mr Davis said.

“Labor has also banned gas connections on new estates and limited energy options for new businesses.

“Only a Jess Wilson-led Liberal and Nationals Government will restore consumer choice by reversing Labor’s gas ban.”

“Labor cannot be trusted on gas after a 12-year gas war. Premier Ben Carroll is part of the problem; he supported Labor’s outrageous, undemocratic gas ban at every turn.”
