Dear resident,

On Thursday 10 September, Australia will mark R U OK? Day 2026.

This year’s powerful message, “Ask R U OK? Any Day”, reminds us that genuine conversations shouldn’t happen just once a year. Every day presents an opportunity to check in with someone, offer support and remind them that they are not alone.

Here in Canterbury-Bankstown, we are proud to be one of Australia’s most diverse, welcoming and resilient communities.

As Mayor, I am calling on everyone across our City, including local businesses, schools, sporting clubs, places of worship, community groups and households, to embrace the spirit of R U OK? Day and help build a culture where meaningful conversations happen every day.

Hold a morning tea, wear yellow, decorate your shopfront, share a message on social media, or simply check in with someone you care about. Whatever you do, make it count. Let people know they are valued and that support is available.

You can visit ruok.org.au for free resources, conversation tips and ideas to help you get involved.

Regards,

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek

City of Canterbury Bankstown
