According to BBC News, a 19-year-old man died after a black Audi crashed into a white Ford Puma following a police pursuit near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Warwickshire Police said officers attempted to stop the Audi on Birmingham Road shortly before 17:30 BST on Monday, but its driver did not stop. The vehicle travelled towards the A46 before returning towards Stratford on the A439 Warwick Road, where the collision happened about 15 minutes later.
Paramedics confirmed the Audi driver dead at the scene. The Ford driver, a woman in her 70s, suffered life-threatening injuries and remained in hospital in critical condition. Her female passenger was seriously injured, though her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Another patient’s injuries were not believed to be serious.
Police said several other cars were damaged during the pursuit. Warwick Road was closed from the Marraway roundabout to the junction with Ingon Lane and Sand Barn Lane before later reopening.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has opened an independent investigation following the mandatory referral by Warwickshire Police. The watchdog said it was seeking footage from motorists who may have recorded the pursuit.
