According to BBC News, the 2026-27 Champions League league-phase draw will take place in Monaco on Thursday, 27 August at 17:00 BST.

All 36 teams will be split into four pots based on their Uefa club coefficient rankings across the five seasons ending with 2025-26. Each club will play eight different opponents once, with four home matches and four away matches, including two opponents from each pot.

Teams cannot face clubs from their own country. Uefa has also introduced a rule preventing sides from hosting the same opponent in three successive league phases. Liverpool therefore cannot draw Real Madrid at home, while Arsenal cannot travel to Inter Milan, although the reverse fixtures remain possible.

Pot one includes Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Aston Villa and Manchester United are in pot two alongside Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting, Porto, Club Brugge, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven.

The top eight teams in the league phase will reach the round of 16. Clubs ranked ninth to 24th will enter the play-off knockout round, while teams finishing between 25th and 36th will leave the competition.
