Arabic version: توجيه اتهامات لرجل على خلفية حادثة سلاح أثناء اصطحاب الطلاب من مدرسة في فيرفيلد
According to ABC News, 19-year-old David Kulitapa has been charged after an alleged attempted shooting involving a father and his teenage daughter at a school pick-up in Fairfield, in Sydney’s west.
NSW Police were called to the school at about 3pm on June 9 after a handgun was allegedly pointed at a 44-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl who were inside a ute. The pair got out of the vehicle and ran from the gunman, who was dressed in black and wearing a balaclava.
Police said neither person was physically injured, though both were distressed. At the time, police said it was unclear whether the gun had jammed and prevented shots from being fired. Detective Superintendent Jason Box said in June that the man was associated with the Alameddine network but had no organised crime links. The incident led the NSW Department of Education to heighten security at the nearby school.
Strike force detectives, assisted by Raptor Squad officers, arrested Mr Kulitapa during a vehicle stop in Sans Souci on Wednesday afternoon. Police also executed a search warrant in Cronulla, where they seized a knife, illicit drugs and devices. He was charged with two counts of attempting to discharge loaded arms at a person with intent to murder, installing a tracking device to find an object without consent, and knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group. His matter was heard in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday, where no application for bail was formally refused.
