According to ABC News, NSW Police have stepped up patrols and surveillance around Narrabeen Lagoon after six reports of alleged sexual offences against women walking or running on nearby trails and in surrounding bushland. Police released an image of an e-bike rider they say may be able to assist their investigation.

The reported incidents occurred in daylight between October 1 and October 12, with most alleged offending taking place between 4pm and 6pm. Police said the first reported incidents occurred on October 7 and October 8, when a male allegedly approached women on walking trails, sexually touched them and rode away on an e-bike. In one case, police said the man made inappropriate sexual comments.

Following a public appeal on October 12, police received three further reports, including one alleged incident dating to October 1. A woman alleged she was approached near South Creek Road at Wheeler Heights at about 4.30pm, sexually touched and then left behind by a man riding an e-bike. Two other women reported being sexually touched in separate incidents between 5pm and 5.30pm on October 12.

Superintendent John Duncan said police were treating the reports seriously and had uniformed and plain-clothed officers in the area, alongside overt and covert activities in consultation with State Crime Command and the Sex Crime Squad. Police believe one person may be involved but said they were keeping their options open. The man police want to speak with is described as being of Caucasian appearance, believed to be under 25, about 175 centimetres tall and of medium build. Police urged potential victims, witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Dee Why Police Station.
