According to BBC News, Alton Towers has permanently closed The World of David Walliams, the themed section of the Staffordshire resort that opened in 2021.

The park said its creative team had worked with Walliams and HarperCollins Children’s Books over a number of years to develop the attraction. Alton Towers confirmed the closure on Tuesday and said it regularly reviews “elements of our attraction offering”.

Rides in the area included Gangsta Granny: The Ride, described as a 360° special-effects attraction, along with Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp, Royal Carousel and Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango. The resort said that, as it was no longer in the main season, guests should check its website and app for the latest attraction-opening information before visiting.

Walliams rose to fame alongside Matt Lucas in the comedy sketch show Little Britain in the early 2000s. HarperCollins published his first children’s book, The Boy in the Dress, in 2008. He has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide in 55 languages and has published more than 40 books. Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy are among his books adapted into television films.
