A man is in police custody after two children playing in a Melbourne laneway were struck by a car, leaving one fighting for life in hospital.
The 48-year-old was arrested following the collision in west suburban Braybrook shortly before 5.30pm on Tuesday.
Police said the man’s Toyota Prado ran into two parked cars in a rear lane between Wirraway Avenue and Liberator Lane. It then struck two young children before hitting another parked car.
An eight-year-old boy was pinned between the vehicles before being freed by emergency services. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
