Labor leader Chris Minns has today announced David Saliba as the ALP candidate for the seat of Fairfield at the March 25 election.
Born at Fairfield Hospital and raised by a single mother, David is a lifelong resident of Fairfield, and knows firsthand the issues facing the people of western Sydney.
David has dedicated his life to helping people and fighting for what’s right. First, as a Federal Agent for the Australian Federal Police (AFP), working on high-profile terrorism, organised crime, and corruption cases. But also for his nation, serving as a Captain in the Army Reserve.
He believes passionately in supporting the youth of western Sydney, having formed the Youth Pathways Network, an organisation tasked with mentoring Western Sydney high school students to succeed after school and stay away from crime.
David studied degrees in law and economics at Western Sydney University, receiving the University Medal in economics. He later completed a PhD at UNSW Sydney. He also taught economics and law at Western Sydney University.
Before nominating for Fairfield, David was a management consultant at KPMG Australia.
Chris Minns, NSW Labor Leader said:
“As a lifelong local of Fairfield, David knows the issues facing the community and he will be a passionate advocate for the area.
“He has spent nearly two decades working in a diverse range of roles from law enforcement to education and his enduring work with youth underpins his strong connections with communities and organisations across Fairfield.
“NSW and in particular western Sydney are facing unprecedented challenges, but I am incredibly pleased we get to meet that challenge with a candidate of David’s calibre.”
David Saliba, Labor Candidate for Fairfield said:
“My message to the residents of Fairfield is that I will work tirelessly, fighting for you to ensure we get our fair share in western Sydney.
