The long-anticipated new Busby Fire Station has now officially been unveiled at an opening ceremony attended by local community members.
The new $5.2 million facility is now completed, after work began on station in September last year.
It replaces a 60-year-old single bay station, which was demolished to make way for the new facility on an expanded site.
The new station includes two spacious engine bays, and a drive-through option that enhances safety for crews, who will no longer need to reverse into the engine bay.
The design of the building incorporates feedback from local crews. The completion of the new station allows the Busby crew to return to Cartwright Avenue after an extended stay in Moorebank.
The opening ceremony included a smoking ceremony from Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council, as well as a rendition of the Australian National Anthem from students of Busby West Public School.
