A strong community campaign for a roundabout at the intersection of Yangoora Road and Benaroon Road Belmore has secured a major success.

For a number of years my office has been contacted by concerned residents regarding a 4-way STOP sign at the intersection, which poses a serious hazard to motorists.

On behalf of the residents, I made urgent representations to the Canterbury-Bankstown Council in September 2022, October 2022 and April 2023, advocating for a roundabout to be installed.

A roundabout at this intersection will prevent confusion to motorists and ease the flow of traffic.

Council has now advised that the installation of the roundabout has been included in the 2023/2024 Capital Works Program and will be funded by the NSW Government. This proposal has been passed at Council’s most recent Traffic Committee Meeting and Council Meeting.

I would like to thank all those who contacted me voicing their concerns and advocating for the installation of a roundabout. Altogether we have achieved a triumph for our local community.
