Parents and children in Western Sydney will be the beneficiaries of a new after school care program, with NSW Labor committing to $6.5 million in partnership with the Western Sydney Wanderers Football club.
The partnership will see the Wanderers run safe and fully supervised after-school care programs including:
- 5-a-side football facility on school days for up to 20,000 visitations per year
- After school meal program and homework club
- Mini-bus collection from local schools to transport children to the facility
- Additional mobile after-school football programs for 50 schools in Western Sydney
The after-school care program will ensure that western Sydney children have a safe and fully supervised facility where they can play sport, learn and eat.
This will help deal with the increased need for after-school care facilities and growing cost-of-living pressures that parents are facing.
Complementing the after school programs, the Wanderers will also run:
- A free program for grassroots female footballers in Western Sydney to boost the women’s game in NSW off the back of the upcoming Women’s World Cup.
- Multicultural football programs in conjunction with organizations such as Syd West and STARTTS to increase participation
- All-abilities football programs in conjunction with organizations such as Whatability, Reliant Healthcare and Aspect Australia.
- Koori Knockout competition and School Holiday Clinics hosted at Wanderers Football Park
These programs reflect the diversity of Western Sydney and support all communities in this growing region.
Under the NSW Liberals the cost of living has continued to skyrocket and there are worsening staff shortages.
Only NSW Labor has a fresh start plan to do what it takes to ease the cost of living on families across NSW.
