RIYADH: Saudi authorities have arrested more than 13,000 people in one week for breaching residency, work and border security regulations, an official report has revealed.
From Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, 6,712 people were arrested for violations of residency rules, while 4,789 were held for illegal border crossing attempts and 1,778 for labor-related issues.
The report showed that among the people arrested for trying to enter the Kingdom illegally, 55 percent were Yemeni, 42 percent Ethiopian, and 3 percent from other nationalities.
