Seniors play a special role in our lives, our families and our communities.
Whether it’s a grandparent, neighbour, friend or mentor, we all know an older person who has left a lasting impact. They may have passed down an old recipe that we cherish, educated us about our culture and traditions, or shared their wisdom from years of life experience.
And in our communities, they have built the foundations of our society today. According to the latest census data, we have more than 97,000 people aged 55 years and older living in our City. Each and every one of them play a part in establishing our City’s identity and inspiring the next generation.
The NSW Seniors Festival is just one of the ways we say thank you to our seniors for their immeasurable contributions. Each year, we put on a program of free and low-cost events to help seniors connect with each other, learn new things, and most importantly, have fun!
As this year’s theme of ‘celebrating together’ points out, our 2023 Seniors
Festival program is all about bringing our local seniors together. From our beloved bus trips, seniors’ concerts and morning teas, to some newly introduced activities including Japanese gift wrapping, Henna workshops and sports days, there’s something for all seniors to enjoy throughout the month of February.
We’re also sharing some of the activities we run all year long like our library craft activities and our gentle exercise programs, in hopes that our seniors will continue to come along after the festival.
I encourage all seniors in our City to check out what’s on offer this Seniors Festival and join in the celebrations. You’re never too old to have fun and learn something new!
See the full program at cb.city/SeniorsFestival or pick up a booklet at our libraries and Customer
Service Centres.
Yours sincerely,
