A 49-year-old man has died while participating in a skydive at Dunkeswell Aerodrome in Devon. Police were alerted to the scene at about 13:00 GMT on Saturday following concerns for the welfare of a male skydiver. Emergency services arrived but sadly confirmed the man’s death.

According to BBC News, police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers remain present at the airfield as inquiries continue.

This tragic event follows a previous incident at Dunkeswell Aerodrome, where two individuals died during a tandem skydive less than a year ago. On 13 June 2025, a skydiving instructor and a participant lost their lives when their parachute failed to open during a jump from 15,000 feet.

Dunkeswell Aerodrome, located near Honiton, is noted for being the highest licensed airfield in the UK, standing at 839 feet above sea level. Originally built as a US naval base during World War II, the site now offers various aviation activities, including skydiving, flight training, and Spitfire flight tours.
