Cumberland City Council is proud to launch a new community-focused campaign aimed at building and fostering community pride by encouraging businesses and residents to maintain and improve the cleanliness and presentation of the Cumberland Local Government Area.
As part of the campaign, Council is distributing multilingual collateral, including shop front stickers and flyers, to help promote the “Our City, Our Pride” message. These materials will be used by a team of community ambassadors, who will target key business areas, starting in Wentworthville, to encourage businesses to participate by displaying the campaign signage in their shops. Through active engagement with local residents and businesses, the community is encouraged to play a key role in enhancing the look and feel of their streets, town centres, and public spaces.
Cumberland Mayor Ola Hamed is excited to see the community come together for this important initiative, believing that collective action will have a lasting impact on the cleanliness and pride of our local area.
“The campaign aims to improve awareness of Council’s clean-up services, the correct use of public place bins, and waste service practices, while also promoting cleaner streets and public spaces to foster a more liveable environment. This initiative marks a collaborative step forward in making Cumberland a cleaner, prouder, and more connected community,” said Mayor Hamed.
“This campaign is about much more than tidying up. It’s about empowering people, strengthening community pride, and continuously creating a cleaner Cumberland for everyone.”
A six-month social media and digital banner initiative has also been launched to raise awareness among local residents about Council’s clean-up services. The campaign features multilingual collateral in the most commonly spoken languages across the community. Additionally, four of Council’s waste trucks have been newly outfitted with decals, reinforcing community pride and shared responsibility for a cleaner environment.
As part of the campaign’s phased approach, the pilot program at Wentworthville Town Centre will be assessed on its effectiveness, with plans to expand the initiative across Cumberland based on the results.
