Arabic version: ضابط سابق يواجه تهم المطاردة بعد نزاع مع الجيران
A former police officer has been granted bail after facing serious allegations of stalking and harassment in a dispute with his neighbours. According to ABC News, Ben Alexander Ephraim Dyball, 58, appeared in Warwick Magistrates Court where he was charged with stalking, intimidation, harassment, and perverting the course of justice.
The charges stem from an ongoing conflict between Dyball and a family living two kilometres from his property in Elbow Valley, Queensland. It is alleged that Dyball harassed the family by wearing a balaclava and an Easter bonnet, and even sprayed their vehicles with a fire extinguisher. The situation escalated when a family member claimed that Dyball attacked their vehicle with a tyre iron.
Dyball, who represented himself in court, argued that the allegations against him were “wishy washy.” He expressed concerns about his mental health and safety if sentenced to prison, citing his background as a former police officer and potential threats from inmates.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that police had discovered firearms that Dyball had reported lost during his time as a police officer and balaclavas at his residence during a search. Magistrate Janice Crawford granted him bail with specific conditions, including prohibiting contact with the alleged victims and requiring him to report to police twice a week.
The case has garnered attention due to the serious nature of the allegations and Dyball’s background as a former police officer. The next court appearance is scheduled for April 29, where further details and developments are expected to unfold as investigations continue.
