Voters Cast Ballots in Gorton and Denton By-Election

Polling stations in Greater Manchester have opened for the Gorton and Denton by-election, allowing residents to vote for their new Member of Parliament (MP). Voting commenced at 07:00 GMT and will conclude at 22:00 GMT. The by-election follows the resignation of former Labour MP Andrew Gwynne on 22 January on the grounds of ill health.

According to BBC News, the results of the election are expected to be announced overnight and on Friday. A diverse list of candidates is vying for the position, representing various political parties.

The candidates include Sir Oink A-Lot from The Official Monster Raving Loony Party, Nick Buckley from Advance UK, Charlotte Cadden from the Conservative Party, and Dan Clarke from the Libertarian Party. Other contenders are Matt Goodwin from Reform UK, Sebastian Moore from the Social Democratic Party, Joseph O’Meachair from the Rejoin EU Party, Jackie Pearcey from the Liberal Democrats, Hannah Spencer from the Green Party, Angeliki Stogia from the Labour Party, and Hugo Wils from the Communist League.

As the polls remain open, voters are encouraged to participate in shaping their local representation in Parliament.
