According to BBC News, Moritz expressed discomfort with the current climate for Jews in the UK, comparing it unfavorably to the United States.

Moritz, whose family suffered persecution under the Nazis, highlighted a specific incident involving an attack on Manchester’s Heaton Park synagogue in October 2025 as a turning point in his perception of safety for Jews in Britain. He described antisemitism as pervasive, claiming it creates an environment where Jewish children feel compelled to hide their identities to avoid harassment.

The billionaire investor, who holds both UK and US passports, views obtaining a German passport as a precautionary measure, allowing him the freedom to leave if necessary.
